In this article, you’ll learn how to use the biosignalsplux Trigger Button (Handheld Switch) to start a real-time acquisition in OpenSignals (r)evolution.
If you’re looking for instructions on how to trigger acquisition onto the device’s internal memory, see additional instructions here.
Getting Started
For this setup you need the following products:
- OpenSignals (r)evolution (desktop) software
- 1x 8-channel biosignalsplux hub
- 1x (or more) biosignalsplux sensors of your choice
- 1x Trigger Button (Handheld Switch)
This tutorial also works with the biosignalsplux Foot Switch as an alternative to the Trigger Button.
Step 1: Setting up your Hardware
Connect the Trigger Button (Handheld Switch) to the accessory port of your 8-channel biosignalsplux device.

Connect your sensor(s) to any of the available sensor ports (1 to 8).
Step 2: Setting up your acquisition in OpenSignals
Enter the OpenSignals device manager.

In the devie manager, click on the device panel of your device to setup your device.
To configure your acquisition to start when the Trigger Button is pressed, activate the TRIGGER option (1) in your device’s panel (the circle must turn blue).

Next, click on READ SENSORS (2) for OpenSignals to set up your sensors correctly.
Once ready, ensure your device is set to ENABLED for this acquisition (the ENABLED button must be blue).
Step 3: Start your acquisition
Enter the OpenSignals acquisition mode.

OpenSignals will now connect to your device, preparing it for acquisition. During this process, OpenSignals displays a Starting the acquisition… message.
Do not press the trigger button during this process; doing so will not initiate the acquisition.

Once successfully connected to your device, OpenSignals enters the acquisition mode in which it remains static until a trigger input is received, as shown here:

You can now press the Trigger Button at any time to start the acquisition.
