How can I schedule biosignalsplux acquisitions onto the internal memory using OpenSignals?

biosignalsplux devices with internal memory allow you to schedule and manage offline acquisitions, which can be initialized and conducted without requiring an active Bluetooth connection with your computer and OpenSignals (r)evolution.

The following kits already include internal memory options.

You can also purchase this feature separately if your device is not listed here.

Find below everything you need to know on how to set up your acquisitions and find out how to download data from your device’s internal memory in this support article.

Scheduling Offline Acquisitions

Offline acquisitions can be scheduled in the OpenSignals device manager.

Access the device manager in OpenSignals (r)evolution
Access the device manager in OpenSignals (r)evolution

Before scheduling your acquisition, make sure that you have all the needed sensors connected to the biosignalsplux and that you have set the acquisition settings as needed (active/inactive channels, sampling rate, sampling resolution).

Once done, click on the SCHEDULE button at the bottom of your device’s configuration panel.

Note that the SCHEDULE button is only for visible for devices that have the internal memory feature activated.

If you don’t see the schedule button even if your device has the internal memory feature activated, restart OpenSignals with an active internet connection or contact our support team.

OpenSignals will now connect to the device (it might take a few seconds) and open a new panel that allows you to configure your acquisition.

Step 1: Setting the Start of the Acquisition

The scheduling panel allows you to configure your offline acquisition by defining how your acquisition should start, either at a certain time or through a trigger input, for example, using the biosignalsplux trigger button.

You can either set a start time and date in the START field or activate the CONTROL BY TRIGGER option by clicking on the circle next to it. The trigger control is active if the circle is shown in blue.

If you select a start time and date, click on the start time and set the time and date of your preference in the following panel. Click on ‘Done’ when you are ready to proceed.

Step 2: Setting the End of Your Acquisition

The scheduling panel also allows you to configure when your acquisition should end.

You can either set an end time and date in the STOP field or activate the STOP WHEN FULL to continue the data acquisition until the device has run out of available internal memory.

In the case of the latter option, you can activate it by clicking on the circle next to it, STOP WHEN FULL, and it is active if the circle is shown in blue. OpenSignals will also fill in the estimated end time in the STOP. This end time is calculated based on your acquisition settings and the device’s available internal memory.

If you select an end time and date, click on the end time and set the time and date of your preference in the following panel. Click on ‘Done’ when you are ready to proceed.

Step 3: Confirming the Acquisition Schedule

Once you’re done, click on the SET SCHEDULE button to complete the configuration.

The scheduled acquisition will appear now as SCHEDULED followed by set starting time by at the bottom of our device’s device panel in the device manager.

Canceling a Scheduled Acquisition

To clear a scheduled acquisition, click on the SCHEDULED button. .

Click on the CLEAR SCHEDULE of the scheduling panel. The scheduled offline acquisition will be removed and your device can now be configured for a new offline acquisition

Additional Recommendations

Storage information about the estimated data size of your scheduled acquisition is provided in the STORAGE field, along with additional information about the set or estimated acquisition duration in the ACQUISITION field.

The acquisition duration is estimated if you set your acquisition to stop only when the device has run out of available memory.

We recommend always ensuring that your device is fully charged before the acquisition, as the acquisition will be interrupted if the device runs out of battery before any of the stop criteria are met, regardless of the scheduled configuration.
