iMotions: Getting started with biosignalsplux

iMotions is the leading software for behavioral research and supports the use of 8-channel biosignalsplux devices.

This article guides you through the major steps to configure your biosignalsplux hub in the iMotions software.

What you’ll need

For this setup, you will need the following biosignalsplux products and an iMotions software license:

  • 1x 8-channel biosignalsplux hub
  • Sensors of your choice
  • 1x active license for the iMotions software
  • 1x Windows PC

Step 1: Connect your biosignalsplux via Bluetooth

For the best Bluetooth experience, use the Bluetooth dongle provided with your biosignalsplux kit, even if your computer has an internal Bluetooth module.

Go to Bluetooth & Devices in your Windows PC. Follow the steps in the screenshot below:

Step 2: Connect your biosignalsplux to iMotions

Go to iMotions > Preferences > Sensor (6). Click the Discover button to scan for biosignalsplux devices (7). Once any biosignalsplux devices have been discovered, select your device from the dropdown list Devices (8).

Proceed with configuring your device according to the sensors connected to each port (9).

Ensure that both options Enable data collection and Forward samples (10) are active before completing the configuration.

Step 1: Connect your biosignalsplux via Bluetooth

Step 3: Preview & Record Sensor Data

Place your sensors on the subject and get ready for data collection.

In the study’s Sensors screen, you can preview your sensor data by clicking on the Sensor Preview button or by pressing the Start Recording button (12).
