Multi-device acquisition is essential for use cases where you need more than 8 sensors for your experimental setup.
This post shows you how to synchronize multiple 8-channel biosignalsplux devices for biosignal data acquisition enabling the use of up to 16 or 24 sensors simultaneously.
Getting Started
For this setup, you will need the following biosignalsplux products:
- 2 (or more) 8-channel biosignalsplux Hubs
- 1 Synchronization Adapter (Multi Sync Splitter) 1
- 1 (or more) Synchronization Cable 1
- biosignalsplux sensors of your choice
- OpenSignals (r)evolution Software
1 part of the Synchronization Kit
Note: This setup requires the use of an 8-channel hub as the synchronization accessories must be connected to the hub’s accessory below (the one with the ↔ under channel 8) which is only available on 8-channel devices. This setup does not support 4-channel devices.

Step 1: Setting up your biosignalsplux hubs
Synchronizing 2 hubs
Connect each end of the Synchronization Cable to each hub’s Accessory port (the one with the ↔ under channel 8).
Synchronizing 2 or more hubs
Connect the Synchronization Adapter accessory (the one with 1 male connectors and 3 female connectors) to the Accessory Port of one of your biosignalsplux hubs.
Connect one end of the Synchronization Cables to each of the remaining hubs.
Connect the other end of the Synchronization Cables to the available 3 input ports of the Synchronization Adapter.
Step 2: Setting up the OpenSignals (Desktop) software
Start the OpenSignals software and open the device manager.

Both your devices should be listed in the device manager. Ensure that both are enabled for data acquisition by clicking on the ENABLE button (must turn blue).

If you are using biosignalsplux hubs with Firmware 3.7 (or newer) and an OpenSignals version 2021 (or newer), OpenSignals will automatically setup your devices and activate all channels to which sensors are connected. Alternatively, you can simply click on the READ SENSORS options or setup your device manually as shown in the following animation.

Ensure that you have the SYNC option activated for both devices.

Repeat the process for all hubs you want to synchronize.
OpenSignals is now configured correctly for multi-device acquisition and you can start recording signals by clicking the red button in the main interface.
