In this article you will find step-by-step information to set-up your BITalino device in OpenSignals environment.
1 – Click on the Button (marked) to find and configure your devices:

3 – Activation of Channels:
The channel configuration allows you to enable and disable channels for your signal acquisition session, as well as to configure which sensors are connected to the single channels of your device.
For activating the channels that will be used during the acquisition hover over to CHANNELS and click on the “Status Circle” of the respective channel row (see image below). Enabled channels are highlighted with blue filled circles, while disabled channels are marked by grey empty circles.
4 – Selection of Sensor type:
For selecting the desired sensor type you should press on the downside arrow to see a list box containing the available options (see image below).
This configuration will convert the digitalized data streamed by the device into the signals original physical unit. This conversion does only affect the signal visualization inside OpenSignals revolution. OpenSignals files, storing the acquired sensor data, will store the raw digital values of the acquired signals.
5 – Channel labels:
You can also manually change the label of any given channel. This can be useful when suing multiple sensors of the same type. The channel label will be displayed during the real-time acquisition mode and can be helpful distinguishing the different channels.
6 – Selection of Sampling rate:
The sampling rate sets the number of samples that are acquired per second per each channel. A sampling rate of 1000Hz will acquire 1000 samples per second per channel. Hover over SAMPLING RATE to see the available sampling resolutions for your device (see image below).
Specify the desired sampling rate, taking into consideration the signal that you will acquire. The minimum sampling rate can be identified accordingly to the Nyquist Theorem as the double of the maximum frequency in the sensor bandwidth, for example for the ACC sensor with a bandwidth of 0-50 Hz, a minimal sampling frequency of 100 Hz must be selected.
7 – Digital Output:
Some accessoried and components can be connected to the digital I/O port of the devices and controlled within the OpenSignals software. Such components are for example the BiTalino pushbutton.
Digital outputs are deactivated by default. Click on the circles on the DIGITAL field (see image below) to activate the output and to turn on components or accessories that are connected to the digital outputs whenever a new data acquisition session starts. In real-time acquisition mode, outputs can be turned off and on again as needed.
8 – Trigger Options:
Trigger accessories such as the BITalino pushbutton allow you to manually start the data recording process instead of automatically starting acquisitions when entering the real-time acquisition mode.
Make sure that your trigger accessory is connected to your device and activate the trigger option in the TRIGGER field (see image below).
